Making the Gel Cubes Really Look Like Ice Cubes

Softening the gel candle ice cubes

Softening the gel candle ice cubes

David Fisher
Set your gel cubes onto a heat safe plate covered in foil. Then, using your heat gun (a hot blow dryer will work if you don't have a heat gun), heat the edges of the cubes until they just start to melt. The scraggly edges and some of the bubbles on the tops of the cubes will soften and melt and the gel cubes will start to look like real ice cubes.

Important step: After you've "softened" your gel ice cubes, put the plate into the refrigerator or else the cubes will start to sag and slump and really look like they are melting!
