Whichever variation you choose, set the votive candle on the sheet of wax and mark the height you want with your knife. In this case (the blue/white candle), I wanted the "votive holder" style, and marked the beeswax sheet at the top of the wick. With the "flush" variation, just mark the beeswax at the top of the candle.

Using a ruler, cut a very straight line across the beeswax sheet. You'll probably need two lengths of beeswax, so lay the first one on top of the leftover sheet and cut a second length of beeswax.
