Most of us choose the plain, clear-glass style of votive holders, but if you're looking for a great variation to traditional clear-glass votive holders, try creating the votive holder out of rolled beeswax.
You'll need to burn the candle on a plate - sort of like a mini-pillar candle - but the effect is really wonderful! And it couldn't be simpler - to make this project you'll just need:
- A plain votive candle - straight-sided ones work best, like votives made with metal molds (though even these have a slight taper to them), but you can make them with Dixie Cup votives too. Any hand made (or even store bought) votive should work.
- Sheets of beeswax - I'm using beeswax sheets from Candlewic.com
- a sharp knife, a ruler and a cutting board
