This light, sweet, blend was a favorite among my customers. I used a neroli (which comes from the blossom of the bitter orange tree) fragrance oil instead of essential oil - but both work well.

This blend was inspired (by a play about) the friendship between Gertrude Stein and Vita Sackville-West.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part spearmint
  • 1 part clove
  • 1 part neroli (essential or fragrance oil)

Preparation:

Mix the essential oils together in parts (1 part = whatever measure you are using - one drop, one teaspoon, one ounce etc.)

Let the blend sit for an hour or so before mixing it into your soap or candle project.

If you like a more minty balance, up the spearmint a bit.

Upping the neroli will give it a more floral/citrus scent.

More clove will make it more spicy, though be careful, too much clove essential oil can irritate some people's skin.

Here's more information on experimenting with your own custom essential oil blends.
