This blend was contributed by Maggie Hanus, the soap bartender at A Wild Soap Bar. She says, "This is a bright, refreshing, summertime blend that also doubles as an effective insect repellent." (The lemon eucalyptus oil has the same "repelling" constituent that citronella essential oil has (citronellol and citronellal)). It's a wonderfully complex blend; Maggie is a brilliant essential oil blender.
Ingredients:
- 4 parts lemon eucalyptus
- 2 parts rosemary
- 2 parts lavender
- 2 parts spearmint
- 2 parts cedarwood
Preparation:
Mix the essential oils together in parts (1 part = whatever measure you are using - one drop, one teaspoon, one ounce etc.)
Maggie suggests "rolling the bottle acorss the countertop a few times." That's a good way to gently mix the oils together without shaking or stirring. After it "rests" for a day or two, add it to your favorite soap, toiletry or candle project.
