Measuring Your Oils

David Fisher
Since this was just a small (2 lb.) batch of soap, I didn't use my trusty soap pot to make it in. I just got out a large pyrex pitcher and measured out the oils into it.

"But how do you melt the oils then," I hear you ask. In the microwave. While I don't recommend it for large batches, for small batches like this, a minute or so in the microwave is plenty to get the hard oils melted.

Add in your liquid oils and you're ready to go.

Note: Since we want to "scorch" the milk as little as possible, I usually keep the oils a bit cooler than normal...somewhere around 90 degrees.
