So...was it worth it to go through the extra trouble and steps to use the beeswax? You'll have to be the judge of that. I think the added sugar from the honey counteracts any loss of lather caused by the beeswax. And my soap recipes are already pretty hard, so I didn't really need the beeswax for that. As for ash, I don't tend to have a lot of trouble with that either...but when I do, I do add some wax (soy or bees) and it seems to get rid of it.
As for the label appeal, you can't beat it. I had customers that just loved the idea of beeswax and honey in the soap recipe, so while the finished soap wasn't that much different, I still made it for them.
And like many of the soap making techniques, ingredients and methods - it's always fun to try something once!
