Gardener's Soap Recipe

Great for Scrubbing Even the Grimiest Hands

By David Fisher, About.com

  1. Start with a basic soap recipe.
  2. Up the coconut (or palm kernel) oil a bit, (to somewhere between 30-40%) to increase the cleansing and lather qualities. (Remember to run the recipe through your lye calculator!)
  3. At trace, for every pound of soap in your recipe, add 3-4 tsp. corn meal, poppy seeds, or ground walnut shells.
  4. Stir well.
  5. Add a colorant if you like.
  6. I like to scent my gardener’s soap with either lemongrass and rosemary essential oils, or a combination of lavender and tea tree essential oils...really anything citrus or botanical works great.
Enjoy your super sudsy, super scrubby soap!
