Don’t settle for just plain old citronella essential oil in your outdoor mosquito repelling candles. Citronella is the most popular and widely used essential oil in mosquito repelling candles, but many oils will repel them, and each has its own characteristics that blend differently with the citronella. This is a simple blend that uses peppermint essential oil which gives power and energy to the sweet citronella and floral lavender. Really nice!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 3 hours

Ingredients:

  • 5 parts citronella essential oil
  • 6 parts lavender essential oil
  • 4 parts peppermint essential oil

Preparation:

Blend the essential oils in equal parts - that is, 5 drops or 5 teaspoons or 5 ounces each. Let the blend sit for a few hours or even a day or so to let it mix/blend before using it in a candle.

Feel free to experiment by adjusting the ratios of the oils...or adding in other oils. There is no magic combination other than the one that you like the best.
