Jojoba beads in melt and pour soap

David Fisher
Jojoba beads are one of my favorite additives to melt and pour soap. They're tiny little waxy balls made from the esters of jojoba oil, a wonderful oil in and of itself. They are usually sold by the ounce and come in a wide variety of colors.

How to use them

  1. For this project, I used about 2 Tbs. of beads for each pound of melted soap base. You can use a little (like 1 tsp. per pound), or use a lot (I wouldn't add more than 4 Tbs. per pound.)
  2. Prepare your molds and melt your soap as in any basic melt and pour project.
  3. Add your fragrance and/or colorant, stir well, and let the soap cool a bit. The soap needs to be no more than 140° or the jojoba beads will melt.
  4. Stir the jojoba beads into the melted, but cooled, soap base.
