Top 10 Valentine's Day Soap and Candle Fragrance OilsLove is in the air...and so should the scents of your custom made soaps and candles! Here are my Top 10 Valentine's Day Candle and Soap Fragrance Oils. They're not in any particular order...just my 10 current favorites - each is so very different.(Note: The descriptions below are from the vendor's sites - with my comments added in.) Layer after layer of rich berries effortlessly weave into healing notes of sage and subtle notes of rosemary. One of my all time favorites - sweet and complex at the same time. Soft, mystically refreshing fruity accords dance on top of warm, tender musk. Woody notes capture the overall feel of this mesmerizing aroma. A good scent for romantic, sensual blends. A relaxing blend of French Lavender and Fir Pine, enhanced with Egyptian Jasmine and sweetened with pure Vanilla, then softened with delicate Musks. A "mature, grown-up vanilla based blend" - I've used this in soaps, body butters, candles and lotions. It's warm and light and relaxing - just like the name. Love At First Sight: The emotion of love at first sight, marvelous encounters, and the exuberance of youth. Sparkling and quite unabashedly flirtatious. Top notes open with a bouquet of mandarin, neroli, violet leaves and rosewood. Heart notes are a blend of fruits (citrus, melons, peaches and plums), gardenia, soft sweet spices and mimosa, caressed by the base notes of musk, vanilla, tonka beans, woods and ambergris. Yummy and very complex. A picnic, a bouquet, and a nap under a blue sky, all mixed into one. Ultimately fresh sophisticated floral. Emits a fresh air quality with bouquet. A sheer green floral fragrance having a fruity bergamot, ozone top tone, a damescenian rose, chassis jasmine middle note and a warm precious wood, musky sage base note.
The top is clean and fresh with notes of peach, apple and leafy greens. The heart blends jasmine, fresh mountain air, ferns, lavender, rose and lily. The base is cashmere and sandalwood. I like this one in soaps, candles and even massage bars. Both men and women find this fragrance "sexy". A Victoria's Secret "dupe", it has a spicy citrus blend of light Bergamot & Jasmine, combined with exotic notes of Cedar Wood, Sandalwood & warm Musk. It has top notes of tangerine, pink lime and bergamot leaves. The main notes of the fragrance mix Limewood, Cinnamon Bark and Sage. Vetiver and Orange Flower comprise the dry-down or lingering after-scent. Really great in candles or soap. (Or how about a massage oil/bar??)
O.k., it should be obvious by now that I lean towards more spicy, complex scents, rather than sweet or florals - and this is perfectly evident with Mayan Gold. A sexy men's scent...luxurious...a mix of exotic woods, fruits and spices including patchouli, sandalwood, clary sage, mandarin orange and grapefruit touched with vanilla, chocolate and musk. The Amber from Tony's Fragrance Oils is the best I've ever tried. This variation of it is wonderful. Amber has a complex and haunting scent. Vanilla has long been recognized as a "comfort scent". Partnering with the amber and vanilla notes are light musk undertones that anchor the fragrance, while rounding it out. All the exotic mystery of an amber, with the lilting, stirring notes of romantic vanilla.
If you like lavender, this one is really nice. English Lavender Fragrance Oil has a nice strong but alluring aroma of English lavender, sweetened just a touch with soft musks and precious woods. Very clean, innocent and friendly. Definitely a subtle valentines hint. Visit the Candle and Soap Making Forum to chime in on your favorite Valentine's Day fragrance oils for soap and candles!
