Lye is a caustic, dangerous chemical. It can cause serious burns - or worse. But, it can be safely worked with, if you take a few careful precautions.

Before you begin, make sure that you:

  1. Understand each of the steps to safely making a lye solution
  2. Understand basic soap making safety procedures
  3. Have assembled all of your ingredients and tools in an organized manner
  4. and last but not least, Are wearing your safety goggles and rubber gloves!
