I've taught a lot of soap making classes over the years. One of the key concepts that people sometimes have a lot of confusion over is the whole idea of lye and oils mixing together to make soap - and what this whole thing called "superfatting" is. I've shown chemical diagrams, I've demonstrated different recipes...but the best teaching tool I've ever come across is a great website I found a while ago by Jennifer P. Davis that boils the whole thing down to bunnies, wolves, sheep and collies. It may sound silly, but it's one of the clearest explanations of the soap making process and superfatting I've ever encountered!
