Gas Goes Up - Wax Goes Up
I'm sure we have all felt the effects of rising gas prices in one way or another...but it's affecting candle makers, both large and small, in yet another way - rising wax prices. Since parrafin is a by-product of petroleum, it was only a matter of time before wax prices increased. And while I don't think, as this article states, that the candle industry (at least the handmade candle industry) is on the verge of a meltdown, or that Hurricane Katrina is "threatening to snuff out the candle industry," the large candle makers like Yankee Candle are definitely feeling the pressure. Interestingly though - this article says abosolutely nothing about SOY WAX! (grin) Read the Article.
