"The secret of my health is applying honey inside and oil outside." - Democritus (460-370 BC), Greek philosopher and physician who lived to be 109
Honey is a wonderful additive in cold process soap. I'm sure soap makers and Democritus would have been able to share recipes! Honey is one of the oldest "ingredients" known to man. It adds a bit of lathering capability (from the sugar content,) and also acts as a humectant like glycerin. I like it best in recipes like goat's milk soap or one of my favorite soap recipes, Citrus Honey Bock soap.
