A Somewhat Different Pot of Soap

Friday May 30, 2008
Liquid SoapThe Liquid Soap page on the Candle and Soap Making Forum has been very busy lately with questions about making liquid soap. It's very similar...and yet very different from making regular cold process bar soap. It uses potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide. It's a "hot process" soap instead of cold process, and the recipes are formulated with excess lye instead of a lye discount. The final product still bubbles and cleans and moisturizes, and there are almost as many varieties, techniques and variations in liquid soap as there are for bar soap. If you love liquid soap, but have just never ventured into making it...or if you just want an exciting new technique to learn, give it a try! There's a whole Liquid Soap section on the Candle and Soap Making Forum for you to post your tips and trouble shoot your batches. Enjoy!
