Then came a second batch...
and a third...
and before I knew it, I had more bars than I could possibly use in a year. (It was the same with candles, though not quite as dramatic a rise!) So I started giving soap to my friends and family. Until even they had enough soap to last them a year...and I still had bars left over. What to do? Well...sell it of course. I think most crafters consider selling their soap and/or candles at some time or other...and many of them enter the market by selling at Craft Fairs and Shows. There are a few things you can do to make your craft show experience both more enjoyable and more profitable, like knowing your show, and starting out small. These and other tips are covered in a wonderful article by Rosalind Resnick called "How to Sell at Craft Fairs and Shows" In the article, she covers some great basic tips, as well as gives several great resources for Craft Show folks like:
National Craft Show Association
The Crafts Fair Online
and Festival Network Online.
With Rosalind's tips, and some hard work and creativity, you can be well on your way to sharing your great soap and candles with others and paying for your obsession.
