This really isn't about candle or soap making, but I have a two year old son. It seems that lately every day he points to some new thing and identifies it by name. It's as if by naming it, it suddenly becomes in his control. Last weekend, he walked out of my soap & candle room carrying a votive and tea light that he got ahold of and announced "Daddy's Candles!" Well the first thing I did was go through the soap & candle room to get things put up onto higher shelves, but the next thing I did was grab a sheet of beeswax and a wick and sit at the kitchen table with my son and roll a "Baby's Candle" with him. After we were done, he marched around the house saying "My candle...my candle..." and "Smells good!" I know...I know...two years old is probably too young to be marching around the house with candles...but we didn't light it. The matches are all safely locked away. I put his candle up on a high shelf where he could see it but not reach it. It was just really fun/amazing/rewarding to share my hobby/avocation with my son. I hope you all get to do the same with your loved ones. I keep all of my kid-appropriate projects in the
Beginner's Corner folder. Here are some more Beeswax projects:
