Starting Your Own Soap Making Business

By December 16, 2005

Follow me on:

"More and more, however, these one-time hobbyists are turning their craft into full-time money-making enterprises as demand for natural body care products has soared in recent years." - CNN Money, March 2001 That was nearly five years ago - demand continues to soar! Most of the "Top Ten Gift Lists" I saw for 2005 included hand crafted soaps and/or candles on them. People are drawn to the quality of our hand crafted goods, drawn to things that are simpler (or that they can make themselves.) And they are savvy to the health benefits of using more natural products. The CNN Money article talks about starting your own soap making business. Here's another article about Anne-Marie Faiola who has had great success and whose business, Brambleberry, is one of my favorite soap and candle making supply vendors.

Hi,
I started making soap in January and haven’t stopped yet, i have it down to a science now. I love it, I am trying to pay off some old debts so i am able to get a small bussiness loan to help me get my products more out there, i would love my soap shop disigned like an old country store were everything is hanemade… i just wished i knew someone in my area with the same passion and go into it together… so keep soap making, i love it…

Your article on soap making is very informative and easy to apply.
You have indeed made things easy for people who desire to go into soap making business with low startup capital.

I’m also of the view that more people should own a small business of their so as to become financial free and have some time for their family.

For certain the handmade soap business continues to grow. It’s easy to get into, but there are enough tricks to it to keep out those who aren’t willing to do some learning. It takes some knowledge to make money at it too. It’s a fun hobby and a possible way to make some significant home based income.

Interesting article.
