It's True!

I found it! I saw it! It's real!
The Holy Grail of Soap Making!
Coconut oil at a grocery store!
I was at the neighborhood Wal-Mart and there it was on the shelf - right above the lard, and beside the Crisco - Louana Coconut Oil! 31.5 oz. for $2.68. A great price too. I had heard that some people were finding coconut oil at their supermarkets, but I hadn't seen it. It's been hard enough to find Sunflower oil (an oil I love to make soap with) - and I've never seen Coconut.
The moral of the story? First, keep checking different markets - and even different sections in the markets - sometimes certain oils will be in the ethnic food sections rather than with the other oils. Second, don't be afraid to ask the grocery manager to order you some. I've found most of them very willing to special order me items if the request was reasonable - and I asked nicely. If there are other soap makers in your area, go together and buy a whole case. And be sure to bring the grocery manager who did the special order a bar of your soap when it's ready. You'll make a friend, and maybe even a customer!

Re LouAna cocnut oil. Fats/oils become unhealthy, often harmful, to the body when exposed to heat. That’s why cold/expeller pressed (virgin) oils are superior. I haven’t been able to get any info regarding how this oil is extracted.

FOR ALL THOSE WITH QUESTIONS RE: LOUANA COCONUT OIL(SOLD AT WAL-MART) – I CALLED VENTURA FOODS (THE MAKER OF LOUANA)
The woman I spoke to informed me that it is NOT hydrogenated but it is refined, bleached and deodorized – and it is not cold-pressed.
