Soy Wax - What do you think?

Thursday July 21, 2005
Soy wax was in the news today as the Indiana Soybean Board and Cargill, the makers of Nature Wax signed a deal. Cargill will receive exclusive rights to market and distribute candle patent technology owned by ISB. So it seemed a perfect time to bring back a discussion we've had several times before: Do you prefer Soy or Paraffin wax for your candle making? Why? Do you use both? Do you use one of the paraffin/soy blends? Cargill/Nature wax states that soy has superior scent holding capability, burns cleaner and is more economical. What do you think?? I have used both soy and paraffin. I much prefer soy wax. Easy soap and water clean up, beautiful and highly scented candles, renewable source, clean burning… the benefits go on and on. First time candle makers should give soy wax a try! Soy is the fastest growing segment of the candle buisness, and while it only accounts for about 10% of the total sales right now, it will become more popular as consumers are educated on it’s benefits. ” Friends don’t let friends burn paraffin”
